What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to site owners. We also use browser local storage, which works similarly to cookies but is not sent with every request.
Cookies we set (first-party)
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
outdoorprice_ip_country | Stores your detected country code (e.g. "DE") so we show relevant prices and shipping estimates. | Functional | 30 days |
outdoorprice_is_bot | Marks automated traffic (search engine crawlers) so we can exclude them from analytics. | Functional | Session |
sb-*-auth-token | Sign-in session for users who create an account. Set only after sign-in; refreshed automatically while you are signed in. Cleared on sign-out. | Strictly necessary | Up to 1 year (rolling) |
The sign-in session cookie is "strictly necessary" for the account feature to work and is exempt from the consent requirement under PECR Art. 5(3). We only set it after you choose to sign in.
Analytics cookies (consent required)
These cookies are only set if you accept analytics via the consent banner. They help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
| Name | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ph_* | PostHog analytics cookies that track anonymous page views and interactions. | PostHog (EU) | 1 year |
Local storage (browser)
We use your browser's local storage for the following purposes. This data never leaves your device:
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
cookie-consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies. |
outdoorprice_country | Your selected country for shipping estimates. |
outdoorprice_currency | Your selected currency preference. |
outdoorprice_language | Your selected site language. Also used to send you to that language automatically on future visits. |
op-search-history | Your last 4 search queries, for quick access. |
op-popular-products | Products you have clicked on, to show you relevant results. |
Third-party cookies (affiliate links)
When you click a link to a retailer, you may be redirected through the Awin affiliate network (awin1.com). Awin may set its own cookies to track that you came from OutdoorPrice. We also load Awin's publisher tag (dwin1.com) on our pages to strengthen click attribution — it only loads after you accept cookies. These cookies are governed by Awin's privacy policy. Individual retailers may also set their own cookies when you visit their sites.
Managing your preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the site footer. You can also clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Note that disabling functional cookies may affect features like country detection and regional pricing.
